Attention Metrics Explained: Share, First-Glance, Dwell & Memorability

Attention metrics visualised as charts

"It pops" isn't a metric. These are. Here's a plain-English glossary of the attention numbers Glimpze reports, and how to read each one when you're comparing creative.

Attention share

The percentage of total predicted attention that a specific region wins. If your CTA earns 8% of the attention on the page and a stock photo earns 30%, you have a problem. Use share to compare regions within one asset, or the same region across versions.

First-glance probability

How likely a region is to be seen in the very first moments of viewing. High first-glance on your brand and offer is what you want; high first-glance on clutter is what you fix.

Time to first view

How quickly a passing or scanning viewer notices a region. It matters most in fast contexts — out-of-home, social feeds, and shelves — where you have a second or two before attention moves on.

Attention-seconds & dwell

How long a region is predicted to hold focus. Noticing something isn't the same as staying with it; dwell separates a glance from genuine engagement.

Memorability

An estimate of how likely a visual is to be remembered later, using a fast signal aligned with academic memorability research. Attention gets you seen; memorability gets you recalled at the moment of choice.

Putting them together

No single number decides a campaign. Read them as a set: did the right regions win the first glance (first-glance + share), hold attention (dwell), and stand a chance of being remembered (memorability)? That's the difference between guessing and a report you can defend. New to the ideas? Start with what visual saliency is.
